About New Material CGI
Compacted graphite iron (CGI), also known as vermicular graphite iron(VGI) is a metal which is gaining popularity in applications that require either greater strength, or lower weight than cast iron.
Metallurgy
The graphite in compacted graphite iron differs in structure from that in grey iron because the graphite particles are shorter and thicker.
The thermal and damping characteristics of CGI are midway between ductile and gray iron. It is five times more fatigue resistant than aluminum at elevated temperatures, and twice as resistant to metal fatigue as gray iron.
The CGI material has been widely applied to many OEM diesel engine parts such as engine block and cylinder head.
What we have done
We have upgraded C15 and ISX15 SOHC cylinder heads from grey iron material to CGI material, to make the cylinder heads more durability, more strength and better performace. And all these years, our higher performace cylinder heads are proven in all kinds of different Pulling Truck competitions in both US and Canada.
